Today, we set up our blog website.

Today, we set up the ROV and Challenge pages. I wrote parts for each of these pages and looked up resources to answer each one. I researched the Fish ID Challenge as well as how ROVs work (their mechanics especially). We didn't have time to do the interview or get our box, but we will get to do that next class!

Today, we interviewed with Mrs. S. and got our box! Then we learned how to do our tasks. I got to practice soldering for the control box.

Today, I got to make alligator clips by stripping wires and attaching the pieces together. I also soldered some of the pieces to our the circuit board (after mistakingly soldering pieces to the wrong side and starting over).

Maybe it's because it's Friday the 13th, but after I finished soldering the control box and tested it three different times, it unfortunately never worked. I checked everything with Mrs. S., but the soldering was fine and there were no visible mistakes, so we got to borrow a control box that works to use, which was fortunate. I also helped Elsa solder the parts of the thrusters together. I've concluded that troubleshooting is fun until there are no more solutions you can try.

Today, we assembled the three pieces with zip-ties. We brought the ROV to the pool, and it worked, except it was a little too light. Next class, our group is cutting the pool noodles in order to make the ROV maneuver in the pool correctly.

Today was our last day working on the ROV. After balancing our ROV by cutting the pool noodles, we were able to get it to navigate well. We added the attachments needed to complete all four tasks in the pool. We added a net for the Schworoctopus and a hook for fixing the oil spill. Tomorrow, we're going to the big pool to test everything out.
